Using AI for marketing strategy [including prompt templates]
I created several business and marketing strategies this year. For some, I relied solely on the knowledge in my head, while for others, I supplemented my ideas with ChatGPT. Here’s what I found:
It Speeds Things Up
- Strategy Outline: I can generate a strategy outline in seconds. Yes, it may be weak or generic, but it gives me a starting point to work with—quickly.
Example:Outline a marketing strategy for a new service that enables [PROFESSION NAME] to perform [PART OF THEIR WORK] more quickly and affordably.
- Website Content: I can produce website content almost instantly. I used a prompt like this:
Write content for a [PROFESSION] website with sections such as About, Portfolio, etc., and include the following keywords: <list of keywords>.
Again, the content I receive might be average, but it's easy to iterate on. I can either prompt AI for improvements or refine it myself.
AI Can Help Doing Price Research
I even used AI to check prices for advertising across different channels, cloud hosting, transfer services, and more. Thanks to ChatGPT's ability to provide links to sources, I could double-check the information to ensure accuracy.
In some cases, it did provide inaccurate data, but most of the time, it was in the ballpark. Again, this sped up my research significantly!
AI Helps Me Be More Thorough
AI-generated strategies or content tend to be generic. AI behaves somewhat like an encyclopedia—a bland compendium of knowledge. It doesn’t focus specifically on the project I’m working on unless I prompt it to do so.
This often leads to AI providing an overview of aspects that should be considered in a given type of project, frequently reminding me of factors I might have otherwise overlooked.
Summary
In all these cases, AI requires cross-checking. More importantly, it requires human judgment and experience.
